| Ce monument de la littérature signé Henry James s'apprête à être adapté sous forme de mini-série ! - Citation :
- Henry James’ classic novel The Portrait of a Lady is getting a new TV adaptation by Carol producer Number 9 Films and Red Production Company, with Studiocanal handling worldwide distribution.
The novel follows Isabel Archer, a beautiful, spirited American, who is brought to Europe by her wealthy aunt Touchett, and who is expected to soon marry. But Isabel, resolved to enjoy the freedom that her fortune has opened up and to determine her own fate, does not hesitate to turn down two eligible suitors. Then she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Gilbert Osmond, a charming and cultivated man who only sees Isabel as a rich prize waiting to be taken. Beneath his veneer of civilized behaviour, Isabel discovers cruelty and a stifling darkness.
Elizabeth Karlsen, co-founder and executive producer, Number 9 Films said: “We have long been admirers of Nicola’s [Shindler, of Studiocanal-owned RED Production] ground breaking work in television. She has built an extraordinary company and creative team that we feel privileged to be collaborating with on our first outing into television. We believe we share a sensibility with Nicola of being drawn towards material with complex and compelling female lead characters, which is one of the defining elements of Portrait Of A Lady.”
Shindler commented: “Elizabeth and Stephen [Woolley] have produced some of the most acclaimed and engaging feature films of recent years and I am delighted to be working with them on their first television project. Having been originally published as a monthly serial, and addressing themes of personal freedom, betrayal and modernization, Henry James’ Portrait Of A Lady lends itself perfectly to the long-form storytelling that only TV can offer.”
The novel was first adapted for television by BBC in 1968 as a miniseries led by Suzanne Neve, Richard Chamberlain, and James Maxwell; Jane Campion later made it into a film in 1996 starring Nicole Kidman as Isabel, John Malkovich as Osmond, and Barbara Hershey as Madame Merle. J'espère qu'on aura plus de détails bientôt car pour l'instant, on ne sait pas grand chose ! _________________ |

| Ce serait bien mais bon il n'y a même pas de chaîne pour la diffusion donc je suis un peu dubitative. _________________ |
