ItalianoThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a new original Amazon TV series created by the one and only
Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of The Gilmore Girls.
Prime Video is the new video-on-demand service by Amazon. Here you can find TV series, documentaries and movies (a sort of Amazon version of Netflix). To give you an idea, there are The Grand Tour (the former Top Gear), This is us, The Good Wife, Dawson’s Creek…
If you are
subscribed to Amazon Prime (one-day deliveries at no additional cost), you already have Prime Video too. If you do not have it
you can try the Prime service for free for 30 days including access to Prime Video.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is set in New York in 1958, Miriam “Midge” Maisel, is a young woman with a perfect family who lives in the elegant Upper West Side but suddenly her marriage takes an unexpected direction, Midge discovers her comedian talent and through adventures in the nightclubs of the Village she enters in the world of the stand up comedy.
If you love fashion and style of the ’50s you will love this tv series: so many details to catch in the apartment of Midge and her clothes always perfectly combined with wonderful hats. The dynamics within her Jewish family are hilarious, a
beautiful insight into modernity and feminism that in those years began to make its way. I take you on a sightseeing tour in the beautiful house of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel:
The elegant entrance to Midge’s building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
The
entrance of Midge’s house is practically the entrance to a doll’s house with pink flowered wallpaper, Chinese lamps and carpets and antique furniture.
In the
kitchen you’ll go crazy for details: modern appliances and bi-colored furniture. The wall in white bricks, plants in front of the window, shelves with pink dishes and cups seem to have just come out of Pinterest! Midge is a modern woman but also a perfect housewife. In the kitchen she is famous for her amazing brisket, a real American institution.
In an Upper West Side apartment with an amazing view on Central Park an elegant
dining room is a must have with wood paneling, shell consoles and decorated dishes.
Dining room is connected to the ‘parlour’, a very elegant
living room through a beautiful glass door. Parquet, Chinese screen, fireplace, antique furniture… did you notice the bookcase with the floral wallpaper? Pink carpets, pink cushions … Midge is really into pink (how can I blame her?!).
The master
bedroom has bedside tables, lamps and twin mirrors and sheets combined with curtains.
In the
bathroom, everything is coordinated, from the window curtains to the shower curtain and the curtain around the sink. If you pay attention it could be the same pattern of the wallpaper in the bookcase in the living room!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is already available in the original language exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The pilot episode released last spring was so successful (with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5, with 94% of 5-star reviews) that Amazon has already confirmed two series.
To get an idea
you can see the first episode of the series for free, even without a subscription to Prime!Among the original Amazon productions on Video Prime I also suggest you
The Last Tycoon, a series on the last unfinished novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and starring Matt Bomer, a story about a small film production company in the Hollywood of the ’30s.
Enjoy!
