Le tournage de la nouvelle série (en costumes !) de Joss Whedon commence dans les prochains jours à Londres. Voici les infos qui viennent de tomber :





Olivia Williams, James Norton, and Tom Riley join Laura Donnelly in Whedon's upcoming supernatural Victorian-era series.

The drama will be co-written by Joss Whedon, Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie and directed by Whedon. Whedon also serves as the showrunner on the HBO drama. These 12 new actors join previously announced lead Laura Donnelly (Outlander).

The Nevers is an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world.

Olivia Williams will play Lavinia Bidlow. A wealthy spinster and champion of the "Touched", Lavinia funds the Orphanage (where Amalia and many of the Touched live) through her vast family fortune. She is stern and old-fashioned, but as strong-willed and clever as anyone she confronts.

James Norton will play Hugo Swan, a pansexual posh boy whose charm has about five years left on its lease. He runs a secret club and a side trade in blackmail. He's devoted to fulfilling everyone's worst impression of him  (personnellement, j'adore cette description )– and fascinated by the Touched.

Tom Riley will play Augustus "Augie" Bidlow, a sweet, disarming nerd and Lavinia's younger brother. A keen ornithologist, Augie is happy to let his older sister take the reins of the family fortune. He finds the Touched unnerving, but is drawn to them by his increasing infatuation with Miss Adair, and by the schemes of his nefarious best friend, Hugo.

Ann Skelly will play Penance Adair, Amalia's (Donnelly) dearest friend, and one of the first women to join her cause. A devout – yet heretically progressive – Irish girl, Penance has genius for invention. She is delighted by her power, and her default is love and acceptance. But she’s firm in her moral sense, and will be guided by what's right over what's expedient every time.

Ben Chaplin will play Detective Frank Mundi. Big, gruff, and deeply moral, Detective Mundi trusts no one, least of all himself: his reputation for sudden violence (and excessive drink) is not unwarranted. Frank finds himself caught between the powerful, who ignore the the laws of the land, and newly empowered, who ignore the laws of physics.

Pip Torrens will play Lord Massen – Staunch, unflappable and merciless in his defense of the British Empire, this former General, now Peer, may be the only man who sees clearly what havoc these few strange people can wreak upon the established order. Which he will protect, one way or another.

Zackary Momoh will play Doctor Horatio Cousens. One of the few successful West Indian physicians in London. Married with a young son, Horatio's fortunes took a dark turn when he met Amalia and discovered his own ability. Now he works with her, and with the Beggar King, those who don't care who is or isn't "different."

Amy Manson will play Maladie. Committed by her husband (and genuinely unstable), she's been warped by a power she can't understand, and tortured by doctors intent on finding its source. She now lives underground, runs a gang and is on an infamous murder spree. She affects a theatrical parody of a bedlam waif, but mad as she is, she's a woman with a purpose.

Nick Frost will play Declan Orrun, aka The Beggar King. Charismatic and brutal, Declan runs – or has a piece of – most of the low-level criminal activity in the city. He's perfectly happy to help Amalia and her cause – and equally happy to sell them out. He backs winners, and the Touched are long odds.

Rochelle Neil will play Annie Carbey, aka Bonfire, Annie is a career criminal who landed the ability to control fire and is happy to hire it out. Came up rough, stayed that way, but she's neither impulsive nor cruel – just looking out for herself. No matter who she works with or for, Annie trusts only Annie, and the fire.

Eleanor Tomlinson will play Mary Brighton. Gentle but surprisingly resilient, Mary pursued her dream of singing on stage. A disappointing career and a broken engagement haven't diminished her spirit. She's going to be great. She's going to be very surprised how.

Je ne suis pas certaine que j'aurais reconnu l'acteur Pip Torrens sans ses cheveux   , je le préfère avec dans The crown (où il joue un de mes personnages préférés: Tommy Lascelles)
J'ai hâte de voir les premières images de tournage.

Et bien, quel casting et quels décors! HBO confirme son talent pour nous proposer de belles séries. Les moyens financiers aide beaucoup... Je suis curieuse de voir ce que ça donne.

Mais quel casting !!! Et le résumé de l'intrigue est extrêmement intrigant. J'ai hâte d'en apprendre plus.

Oui il va y avoir un gros trous dans les séries à la rentrée.

Le cinéma on peut encore supposer que les films qui ne sont pas sortis vont sortir avec du retard, mais pour les séries ca va être compliqué.

James Norton a le rôle masculin principal (j'ai hâte que les premières photos de son personnage sorte mais il va falloir s'armer de patience )

Dans ce tout petit bout d'interview que James Norton a donné hier (ou avant hier ?) sur Instagram, il donne quelques détails sur The Nevers (il a déjà filmé 5 épisodes sur 10 - ouf j'ai envie de dire !), parle de Joss Whedon et un petit peu des films Marvel

Olala mais j'étais passé complètement à côté de ce projet.
Absolument du casting, à l'histoire de départ jusqu'au réalisateur me surexcite, j'ai vraiment hâte de découvrir ça!

James Norton a donné une interview à Collider dans un article publié hier. Il y parle du film Gareth Jones et aussi de la série The Nevers et de Joss Whedon.
Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec lui, la grande force de Joss, ce sont ses personnages   D'ailleurs, ce qu'il dit de Hugo Swann, le héros qu'il joue dans la série, promet !

You’re also attached to Joss Whedon’s sci-fi TV series The Nevers, which sounds very cool. Have you already shot that? Is that finished?

NORTON: That’s very different from Mr. Jones. No, we were half-way through. I think we’ve shot about five episodes. We’re basically almost exactly half-way through. We’ve got about five more to shoot. We’re filming in London, and Joss is here. The first half of the shoot went really well. We’re really excited about it, and I think HBO is excited about it. Unfortunately, we were just one of the many productions who were cut short, but there is every intention to complete it. We haven’t had any clear dates yet, but there are lots of conversations going around, in the UK in general, about what measures we can put in place to protect everyone. I talked about being blessed with someone like Gareth Jones, but Joss Whedon is a whole other type of blessing, but one which I’m very grateful to be able to experience. His mind is something extraordinary, and I’m in awe of it, with his creativity, energy, inquisitiveness and humility, all mixed in one. The man wields immense power, intellectually and as a director, and yet he’s the most humble, soft-spoken and self-deprecating person on the set. I have a lot of love for Joss.


That world sounds really interesting, and the descriptions of each of the individual characters sound very interesting. What was it about your character that made you want to explore him?

NORTON: If you’ve read the character description, that says it for me, really. It’s the world, it’s Joss, and it’s character. The interesting thing is that I’m still yet to fully learn who Hugo Swann is ‘cause we’re only half-way through. Part of the processes is the actual making and telling of the story, and so much of his journey is still to come. I’ll be better positioned to answer that question in a few months time. The great thing about Joss is that he’s all about character, so you’ve got this incredibly larger than life, very big, playful character who’s pansexual and sex-crazed, and he runs this club. It’s all very big and delicious and gaudy. If it was in the hands of a different director or writer, I’d be a bit more wary. But the great thing about Joss is that you can be assured that he’s all about character, so there will always be a heart and a soul and a subtext underneath the fun and the theatricality. You can really chew on something fun and outlandish, and at the same time, find an inner rootedness and a quality that Joss will never, ever let you deny. Like I said, I’m still working out this madman that is Hugo Swann, but it’s been a joy so far.


Is there a genre that you’d love to work in, that you haven’t gotten the chance to do, or that you feel you haven’t gotten to do much of?

NORTON: That’s a good question. One thing which this role is allowing me more to explore is comedy, which I haven’t really been allowed to do. When I was in university, I loved dabbling in comedy. It was never my reason for going into the industry, but I’ve loved performing in the little bits of comedy that I’ve done, and  I love watching it. At the same time, I would never claim to be a comedian or a comedic actor by nature. You’re walking out into this world where there are some masters at play, and I don’t want to lay claim. The Joss project is a really fun challenge because it has that comedic side to it, but it’s still rooted very much in drama and character-driven drama. But I would love to maybe have a go at comedy. To be honest, I’m up for everything. As long as the character is there, the genre of whatever it might be is a Trojan horse. It’s always about character, front and center, for me. If the character is fully formed, but it’s comedy or horror or sci-fi, or whatever, I’m up for it. I’m up for it all, as long as the person is there. That’s key.

Rien que le casting et le thème me donnaient envie, mais en lisant ce que James Norton en dit, ça rend encore plus impatient ! J'espère (pour eux)(et pour nous) qu'ils pourront vite reprendre le tournage !

Joss Whedon quitte le tournage pour cause d'épuisements physique et psychologique.

Quelle déception... Pas sûre du tout que ce soit pareil sans lui ...

Bon on va dire que là comme ça, ca vend pas énormément de rêve mais bon on verra.

Ce n'est qu'en regardant cette très bonne bande-annonce que je me rends compte du potentiel de cette série.

Sinon, je suis surprise, j'ai l'impression qu'il n'y a pas une promo folle autour de la série. Enfin, ça viendra peut-être dans les prochains jours/semaines.
